June 30th, 2014 Adios... Concepion "Conce" and Hola Mazatenango

Welcome to America in Guatemala.... aka Mazatenango... the land of deer. But seriously. It has taco bell.... taco bell!!! and Little Caesar’s. It is crazy. It is kind of fitting for the 4th of July this week!!!

Leaving Çonce was so hard for me and Hna. Briceño. We truly love these people so much!!!!!! Victor was just like what!!! then I gave him a corte tie and he was freaking out. I couldn’t help but cry. then as we left his house a drunk man chased me down,  it  was terrifying but i am okay. no worries. the worst part was saying goodbye to Carolina. She just bawled and her son Benji just shoved his face in my shirt and started crying. I know they have truly felt the Gospel changing their lives. Slowly but surely. I know the Lord put me here in Conce to have more faith and truly learn to depend on the Lord.

Alma 32. 40 -41 has been my scripture for this area.
40 And thus, if ye will not nourish the word, looking forward with an eye of faith to the fruit thereof, ye can never pluck of the fruit ofthe tree of life.
41 But if ye will nourish the word, yea, nourish the tree as it beginneth to grow, by your faith with great diligence, and with patience, looking forward to the fruit thereof, it shall take root; and behold it shall be a tree springing up unto everlasting life.

I didn’t have the faith to work miracles when I started here.I just kept looking back and couldn’t see forward but I have learned to trust in the Lord. Have the faith that he will put the people I am supposed to meet in my path. this place truly is sacred for me. I love these people sooooooooooooooooooooooo much and it has hurt so much to go but I am ready to work hard here in Mazate.

Çhanges!! I arrived in a coca cola truck... long story but it was hilarious. I am going to miss Hna. Briceño. my new comp is Hna. Aguilar from Peru!! She is soooooooooooooooooooo humble and adorable. She reminds me a lot of Meridian!!! I know we are going to learn a lot together!! I am in La Union and this place is a miracle ground. I can feel it!!! the people and members are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loving and really just want to serve and love everyone. Not even kidding. One family gives us dinner every Sunday and they don’t have that much but they do it with a smile and soooooooooooooo much love. I already feel so much love for the people here!! I think it will be my last area... weird.

So we met this family on Saturday and they said they would come to church!!! woohoo!! we had like 6 other people who said they would go to but everyone got sick!! we showed up to church with no one. I felt terrible and i was so worried about it. then I remembered... this day is not about you. It is about christ. So I started to read some hymns and really focused on the sacrament. When it ended, i looked up and this beautiful family walked in!!! they came but themselves. the Lord is so good!!! I love being a missionary. never lose faith or hope or patience!!!!

I am so happy to be here.I know the Lord has a lot for me to do here!! I loveyou all!!!!

June 23rd,2014 Rainbows After Rain

I have never been so rejected in my life. But as they say after the storm comes the rainbow right??

Carolina finally came to church!! Weeks after stopping by her house and her saying no she finally did it!! The funny thing is we passed by the day before and she said she wasn’t going to go. On Sunday morning, I was just like let’s go see if Carolina is there. My comp didn’t look too happy but we did it anyways. She was in her skirt waiting for us. The Lord knows His children. It was so amazing. She was super tired during church though because she stayed up all night cleaning her house so she could go to church. I love her so much and I know that her progress is going to be a slow and long one but she knows this Church is true!! She was like they don’t yell there or anything like that. We have been looking for a church like that!!!

We had a Father’s Day activity and it was so much fun and we had a ton of less actives there!! One of them is a family and they came to church on Sunday too! We stopped by their house on Sunday and they said they felt so much peace and so happy to be able to go to church again!! This Gospel is true!!!
We also had a clothing activity like we did in Young Women’s! These people went crazy!! They were so excited for new clothes!! I attached a picture. I love service!! It is the best!!

Gabriel is a less active who hasn’t gone to church for so long. He has some addictions but wants to change. We had an appointment with him and he was all ready when we came. he had the chairs set up, read the chapter we left him and he is praying! I know he truly has this desire to change. and I am so proud of him for starting on his own. This Gospel really does change people if they truly live it and follow the principles.

I have been studying prayer a lot. We Must meditate before we pray. My prayers were so repetitive and  I was just talking but as I ponder what I did in the day, it becomes a conversation with the Lord. It has helped me so much!!! Read Pres. Airings The Priesthood Man talk to study it some more!!!
Victor passed the sacrament!! He is so pilas. He has such a desire to come unto Christ.

Well they are going to close my area.... my heart is broken. I love these people so much and I just hope and pray they will stay in this path of eternal life and happiness.

Oh... I finished the Book of Mormon in Spanish!!! IT IS TRUE. Read it.
I love you all!!! xoxoxo

June 16th Gooooooooooooaaaaaalllllll World Cup Mania and Missionary Work

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

You guessed it!! Mundial aka world cup and Guatemala has gone crazy!!!!!!
The Guatemalan people love them some soccer....

So we found a super awesome family who came to church.-.... by themselves like 2 weeks ago but we could not find them anywhere. Turns out... they are getting a divorce. My heart literally broke when Hermana Yesica told us. She feels like God has abandoned her. The Spirit guided me to know what to say to her. I have always known as missionaries we represent Christ but I never really realized until that moment we are His hands. We were not planning on going to her house but so many small events happened that led us there. I was able to testify to her that Christ knows her and sent us there as His hands. He knows each and every one of us. He sends us angels. I testify of that.

Hna. Dicelly!!! She has so many questions about the Book of Mormon and about life after death. We were able to help her find so many answers. For years she has prayed to know what church is true and I know if she reads the Book of Mormon and sincerely prays... she will!!! find an answer.

The elders for my year mark bought me this creepy rabbit thing... I don’t know what to think of it. They almost bought cake... I would have preferred that... oh well... ha-ha

Weird food experience.... I ate menudo... it is like chicken guts or something like that. Well the truth.... I only took a bite.... the cat ate the rest :) Oh and I found a caterpillar in this soup of herbs.... I still had to finish it.... I didn’t feel very well after that.

I am so grateful to be here and serving the people in Guatemala. I may not be the best teacher or the greatest missionary but I am constantly striving to do my best. i know that is all the Lord ever asks of us. Our very best and He will make up for the rest. I am so grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who knows me and His children. We are so blessed!!!

I love you all!!!

June 9th - One Year As A Missionary and Happy Bday Dad

Bueno pues..

A year ago, I was set apart as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Man how the time has flown by..... I cannot believe it. I have learned so much in this past year. I am not completely different just new and improved (and still improving!). I am so grateful to be here in Guatemala serving the Lord.
So we had the opportunity to go visit with Victor, our recent convert. Wow!!!! He is so awesome. He gave us a reference of his neighbor and his neighbor really didn’t want to listen but he just straight up told him that he knows the church is true. He said when the Hermana’s first came to my house, i knew that the church was true. I was beaming. The Lord really does prepare people. People who want to know the truth and once they get a hole of it will never let it go. On Sunday, Victor received the Priesthood too!!! :) I know he is going to bless so many people by helping them come unto Christ.

This adorable little boy, Josh. the son of Carolina is in love with me. They literally have nothing and barely have food. he was eating this tiny piece of bread for his breakfast and ripped off a piece and gave it to me. It touched my heart so much to see the charity of this sweet little boy. If only we all were like little kids. :)
So I got a call on Sunday morning at 837 am. Church starts at 9. the Bishop asked me if I could give a talk on the Sacrament. I was just like okay... let’s see what happens. The Spirit is amazing. I know the Lord helped me give that talk and helped me have the words I needed. I felt like I learned so much and I know it is because the Spirit was guiding me. I learned about as we take the Sacrament it is so we can be more fully built upon the rock of our Redeemer ( 3 Nephi 18:12 and Helaman 5:12) I love the scriptures!! I love the Holy Ghost. I love the savior. I love the Gospel!! I just feel so happy and I love sharing this happiness with others :)

Mauro got baptized!!! The service was amazing!!! We had 7 investigators there!!! It was a miracle. He was so excited and truly has the desire to come closer to Christ!!! He has met with missionaries his whole life and now at 41 years old has decided to make the decision to more fully follow our savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. My heart is full of gratitude to be a part of this process and help others to recognize how close He is to each and every one of us.

So this week we met with a man whose entire family are members except him. We decided to share the Living Christ with him. As I studied it, I realized how much I don’t know about the savior and how much I forget about how much he really did for each and every one of us. I will never be able to do enough to fully thank Him. I have pasted the Living Christ here so you all can read it and meditate who is Jesus Christ and what has He done for me. It has brought so much insight into my life this week.

Thank you so much for all of your support and love!!!
Con todo mi amor,

Commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ

As we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ two millennia ago, we offer our testimony of the reality of His matchless life and the infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice. None other has had so profound an influence upon all who have lived and will yet live upon the earth.
He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come.
He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great atoning sacrifice. He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary’s cross. He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth.
We solemnly testify that His life, which is central to all human history, neither began in Bethlehem nor concluded on Calvary. He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.
He rose from the grave to “become the firstfruits of them that slept” (1 Corinthians 15:20). As Risen Lord, He visited among those He had loved in life. He also ministered among His “other sheep” (John 10:16) in ancient America. In the modern world, He and His Father appeared to the boy Joseph Smith, ushering in the long-promised “dispensation of the fulness of times” (Ephesians 1:10).
Of the Living Christ, the Prophet Joseph wrote: “His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:
“I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father” (D&C 110:3–4).
Of Him the Prophet also declared: “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!

“For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—
“That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:22–24).
We declare in words of solemnity that His priesthood and His Church have been restored upon the earth—“built upon the foundation of . . . apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone” (Ephesians 2:20).
We testify that He will someday return to earth. “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together” (Isaiah 40:5). He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee shall bend and every tongue shall speak in worship before Him. Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts.
We bear testimony, as His duly ordained Apostles—that Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.
