April 14th, 2014 I feel so grateful to know who I am and my worth

Bueno.
Well I just love Hermana Blanca so much. She is the greatest. I was studying for her one morning and thinking how can I help her?? How can we help her accept baptism and understand the importance?? I just randomly flipped to the listening section in Preach My Gospel. I read it and was like we should just let her talk and listen. I know we should always do that but as missionaries we sometimes get caught up in the little things. So our lesson with Blanca that day was different than any other lesson that I have had. We just listened and listened. She told us that seeing her daughter and how interested she was in the Church has really helped her to be more motivated. She told us straight up that she was talking to her mom about baptism and she wants to be baptized!!!! I was like wait what!!! I just sat there with the goofiest looking smile on my face. If we didn’t listen to her or ask her questions, we wouldn’t have known any of this. Her prayer was so beautiful in the end too. I just felt so happy!! And she came to a baptismal service on Saturday with us too!! With her daughter.... in dresses!!! They never wear dresses. She had told us they don’t really like them. I just love seeing these simple yet profound changes in Blanca and her daughter. I love the Gospel.
So we contacted a lady who has a child with disabilities. I have never felt so much love for a little boy. He was so adorable and kept hugging me. :) We talked about the Plan of Salvation and how the Lord has a purpose in everything. I feel so grateful to know who I am and my worth. This Gospel is true. It has all the answers!!!!
The Lord has guided us to some truly prepared people this week. There was this guy just sitting there and I waved and he waved back I kept walking and then the GO BACK feeling came. So I went back, turns out he is going to be a dad for the first time. He is terrified so we talked to him about the plan of salvation. We returned and met his wife... she is so legit. She was like encouraging him to pray and was like yah lets go to church!! We need to be good examples. I know the Lord leads us to those who are waiting and He will lead each of you to those who are waiting for the truth too!!!
Read Preach My Gospel Chapter 9!!!! ( I hope you already bought your copy after conference... if not.... go do it now!!!!!!))
Send me missionary experiences!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you tons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 7th, 2014 I am in Guatemala. The most beautiful place on earth :)

ITS P DAY PDAY GONNA WRITE MY FAMILY ON P DAY.  ( to the tune of Friday) I was singing that all day today :)
So sad news..... Hna. Page is no longer my comp. I love her so much and it was so hard to say goodbye but I know she just needs to bless the lives of even more people. She seriously has taught me so much and has helped me to be my real self in this work. I love her a ton and she is a forever friend to me.
But my new comp is pretty awesome tooo!!!!!!!! Hna. BriceƱo from Honduras. She is kind of weirdly related to Hna. Betancourth too. Funny how things work out huh???

I live in a house with my mission mom and a mini missionary( she isn’t a missionary but is just helping in the lack of hermanas). Hna. Bontempo from ym group was here for 5 days but she got reassigned to the Houston Texas mission because she got dengue 3 times :( We had a goodbye Guatemala party for her and it was so sad but she taught me a ton in the 5 days we had in the same house. I seriously love her a ton! :)

We have truly see miracles here. So many fruits form the work Hna. Page and I did in the last few weeks. People who want to know the truth :) Conference was just amazing!!! Blanca came. We stopped by her house like 10 minutes late and she was just waiting there in a skirt and make up on and everything. I have never seen her dressed up like that or so happy. I just had so much love for her in that moment. As we were in the tuc tuc on the way to conference, I just thought life doesn’t get better than this.I am a missionary of the only true church on the earth. I represent Jesus Christ, our Savior and the truths He taught here on the Earth. I am in Guatemala. The most beautiful place on earth :) I am seriously so stinking blessed.

I just want everyone to go read Lawrence R. Corbridges talk from Sunday afternoon session. I WAS GLUED TO THE SCREEN. I got to watch in English too(after fitting 8 missionaries in one tuc tuc and sprinting to the mission office...no joke...picture included). But I felt like his talk summarizes the Gospel in 11 minutes. This is the truth. As they sang a child’s prayer, I just had an overwhelming feeling that I have always known it is true. Even as a child. I knew the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and I will never deny that. there so many things I want to share but the time is so short. I love you all so much and encourage to continue watching conference daily and go buy preach my gospel!!! every single one of you!!!

I love you!!!!

March 31st, 2014 Can I just say, "I love church hymns ! "

Buenas a todos!!!!

Can I just say that I love church hymns!!! They are just the greatest and always bring a smile to my face :)
Sing one every day!!!!
A member gave us fresh papaya.... I didn’t like it.
I gave a monkey a Book of Mormon!!
Anyways, I was able to have divisions with a new missionary, Hna. Keltner. She ran track at BYU!!! woot woot. Go cougs!! We just really opened our mouths and talked to everyone. It is amazing to see the different responses of everyone but we were able to help clarify some doubts and help people understand really what the Restored Gospel is!!! I love the Gospel!!! :)
We taught a recent convert, Cristian. He is like a clone of James Larson. Not even kidding. But I was able to explain the Priesthood to him. At first, he was like why don’t women have it then?? I was impressed to pull out the picture I have of my family and of my parents wedding day. I was able to explain to Cristian that all of the greatest blessings that I have ever received in my life have come from the Priesthood. My family is forever, I have been baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, and I am a missionary. These blessings and ordinances have forever changed me for the good. I don’t need to have the Priesthood to receive these blessings. I am so grateful for the Priesthood in my life and that I can testify that the power of God truly is on the Earth today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. :)
We were able to teach girl named Ruby who just looked so sad. We were able to share the Book of Mormon with her and read Ether 12:4
Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.
Afterwards, she just kept smiling and she hugged me so long before we left. The Book of Mormon and this gospel bring hope and faith. That is why I am here and that is what I want all of you to know. This Gospel is true!!! I will never deny it.   :)

Well most of all...... this weekend...... GENERAL CONFERENCE.  The prophet will be speaking to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!! I am so stinking happy. I cannot wait. Seriously though :) Everyone MUST watch it. The sessions will be available on lds.org. :) You WILL  receive answers to your prayers if you listen with your heart. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I cannot wait to hear what the Lord has to tell us through him!!!

March 24th, 2014 I love the Gospel.

Buenas tardes folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well.... someone broke into our house.......................... WE DID.  Hna. Page left the keys in our house and we were freaking out. Then I remembered that man who tried to break into our house... I thought hey we should do the same. After twenty minutes and a lot of frustration. We opened the window and pulled the keys out with a stick. Pretty sketchy huh?? this is what Guatemala has taught me.

We did service for a recent convert, Vivian. She is awesome and the elders tried to teach me how to chop wood. After like 10 tries I finally did it. They were freaking out. It was terrifying. I felt like I was going to chop my foot off.
Randomly walking down the street and this man yelled out..... JOSE SMITH. That was it but I thought it was hilarious.

It is mango season..... they are amazing here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so stinking delicious. Not even kidding. I love it so much. I hated mangoes before but now I am a mango freak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filling in the words of Spanish soap operas is hilarious by the way. At least with Hna. Page and Hna. Webster.

Well now for spiritual events!
Hna. Blanca!! So she lives like 15 minutes away from church and wasn’t very positive but we explained the sacrament to her and she was like... well i have never partaken of it. So she was like I will save my quetzales so I can come to church! We weren’t really sure what was going to happen and on Saturday she called us and was like hey my cousin will take me so you don’t need to drop by. We were really hesitant but we walked into church and she was sitting there with her two kids!!! It was seriously a miracle :) Her heart truly was softened and I know that she rally has this desire to follow the Lord! We are excited to see how our visits go with her this week :)

Alejandro... so we were like let’s go visit him. His brother opens the door...wasted. But… let’s just say I gave him some fine words about what he was doing to himself. He kind of just stopped drinking and started listening to us. We talked about Christ and how it is through Him we can find relief and not through alcohol. He started just crying and asking us to forgive him. It was so sad to see but at the same time I felt that he had this desire to change. He asked us to come back the next day so we did. It was a beautiful lesson. We explained repentance and I know they want this change. they want to follow the Savior and change their lives.

I am so grateful for the knowledge I have through the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. He lives and He is here to help us. In these days through a living prophet of God. We know the things we should avoid and what truly will bring happiness in this life and the next. I love the Gospel.

Thanks for your love and support. I love you!!!!

March 17th, 2014 Do the small and simple things that the Lord has asked of us, we will receive so many blessings in the moment but also in the heavens!!! :)

Well this week... I can’t really remember what happened so here it goes.
We were able to teach a Less active family and the Spirit really gave me the words. She wanted us to come over to tell us that she could no longer go to church. At first, we tried to talk to her and understand but it was going nowhere so we decided to sing her favorite hymn. Little did I know.... it was Count Your Blessings. We were able to teach her about how blessings only can come through our obedience to the Lord and His commandments. I just really felt like the Lord put the words I needed to help her understand WHY  we go to church. But many may ask... why?? We can pray and read the scriptures at home right??

But at Church, we do something much greater. We partake of the Sacrament. We remember what Christ did for each and every one of us. The bread representing His body and the water, His blood. When we prepare ourselves for this moment and truly reflect upon His life, it becomes something sacred and precious to us. We need it weekly.

Hna. Page and I haven’t had investigators come to church with us for a while so we decided to focus on helping people understand why we take the sacrament and why it is essential in our lives. I know that as we do the small and simple things that the Lord has asked of us, we will receive so many blessings in the moment but also in the heavens!!! :)

Being a missionary is hard work but it pays off. I have learned a ton and have felt the Lord really guide me. So many people don´t want to listen to us and it truly makes me sad.

I know how Nephi really felt.

But I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I esteem it as of great worth, and especially unto my people. For I pray continually for them by day, and mine eyes water my pillow by night, because of them; and I cry unto my God in faith, and I know that he will hear my cry.

I love you all!!! Thanks for the support.

March 10th We cannot judge and say who is and who isn’t until we try!! So share the Gospel with your friends and everyone else!!!

Guatemalan Horror Story…..

Well you are probably wondering about the title of this email...

So let's just say the worst way to wake up in the morning is to have your companion jump on your bed and tell you to be quiet. Hna. Page pointed over to the window and there were just two hands trying to get through the window. (The windows here are like blinds, they open and close and he was trying to push it open).Someone was trying to get into our house. I just thought I am going to die. We just ran to the other room to call the zone leaders and tell them to run over to our house. They said they were on their way. Like 10 seconds after our doorbell rang.... way too fast to be the zone leaders. We both were just shaking and praying and crying. We yelled WHO IS IT!!  I don’t know how but the Lord gave me the most terrifying voice in the world and I told that man to LEAVE before someone else took him out of there. We sat in 3 minutes of silence and then the elders from the office showed up with bats and what not. The guy had left but they found him on the corner and the police came and took care of things. Let’s just say it was an experience. I slept with a frying pan but todo esta bien now.  (YES…. Her Mom had a heart attack while reading this portion of her letter….)

Well other than that experience, this week was an interesting one. We found a super awesome guy named Alejandro and he just gets the Gospel. He has the desire to change. I was just beaming the whole lesson. I know there truly are people who are prepared and ready to hear this Gospel. We cannot judge and say who is and who isn’t until we try!! So share the Gospel with your friends and everyone else!!!
I have learned a very valuable lesson this week about love. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in the missionary routine that we forget our purpose as missionaries. I was getting stuck in the routine and Hna. Page helped me remember why I am here…. LOVE…. I love the Lord and His children. We are here to strengthen them and invite them unto our Savior, Jesus Christ. After meditating it and truly studying how the Savior taught, I saw a difference in our lessons. We had a beautiful spirit there and we were able to teach and find two wonderful families. I know the Spirit guided us to them for our desire to truly teach as the Savior did. I love representing his name and I am so grateful to be back on track with the true and pure love of Christ at the core of my purpose. I love these people. I am not perfect and have many faults but through teaching them and serving them I am becoming better little by little.

When an investigator tells you they don’t want you to visit them anymore... it is like a break up. Devastating and heart breaking really, but the Lord always puts miracles right after!!  Christian's( recent convert) aunt and uncle came to our stake conference... alone!!!! Without even teaching them. It was beautiful. Miracles are the best!!!! It comes through our hard work and dedication. :)
I just wanna say thank you all for the emails and support. It makes my day!! Week and month!!! I love you all a ton!!! xoxoxooxox

March 3rd, 2014 When we are faithful and diligent and bear our trials with patience the Lord will bless us with the sweetest blessings

Well this week was a tough one.

We had a baptism fall through. This hermanito wants to get baptized so badly but his family told him they would stop supporting him financially if he did. They told him that the morning of the baptism. We couldn’t get a hold of him and were looking for him everywhere but couldn’t find him. Our ward mission leader found him and brought him to us. He was so sad and stressed out. I didn’t know what to say to him but the Spirit gave me the words. Faith, diligence and patience. Alma 32:42. When we are faithful and diligent and bear our trials with patience the Lord will bless us with the sweetest blessings as it says in Alma 32:42. It says pure, delicious and white. Baptism :) Or the temple!! :) He knows it is the truth. His faith is just getting tested a little bit.

Let`s just say I am learning a lot. The Lord has blessed us with a lot of little miracles to keep us going. We found an awesome hermano, Carlos. My comp was testifying about how the Book of Mormon helps bring light and knowledge into her life and then suddenly the lights came on at the same time. It was pretty legit. He kept saying how he wanted a sign to know it’s true and I think that was it for him. He really has the desire to learn more about the Book of Mormon and we feel so blessed to teach him!!!

I just wanna say how much I love my comp. I LOVE HNA. PAGE. We get along so well and everyone calls us twins. We kinda look alike. She is so loving too!! and she always is smiling. She reminds me of Vernie!! :) Vernie is my sister aka Sister Webster. We pretend to speak in Chinese all the time just to see if people believe us and they do. it is hilarious. We are hilarious. We made a rap about our district leader too.... it is hilarious. We are hilarious.

So an hermano in my ward graduated from Granger High in West Valley!!! what what!!!!! So mom your high school has graduates all the way in Guatemala. I thought it was pretty legit!!!!

I am loving your letters about missionary experiences!! Please keep it up. It helps me to continue forward in the work with a good attitude!!
I love you all tons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry I haven’t had pics....Next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
