October 13th, 2014 - I just want to testify that it doesn’t matter what trial we are facing. The Lord is aware of us and our circumstances

CHANGES!!!!!  In the middle of a transfer.....
They just switched me and my comp to a different ward but it hurt. I didn’t want to leave all of these wonderful people I have been teaching and the people that I have helped baptized. I didn’t even get to say goodbye to them!! It was rough but I know the Lord has a plan in all of this.

So we basically have had another weird week. showing the elders from our ward the area. By the way, these elders are so awesome. So obedient and they just want to do what is right. They are such good examples to me!!!!
We had an incredible lesson with this family. They are reading the book of Mormon and praying and we just felt so much peace in the lesson with them!!!! But they were like we don’t want to listen to your lessons anymore. Like my husband is praying for the first time and everything but it just isn’t for us. I was just like what!!! So after like 20 minutes after explaining that all of that is evidence that this is true... they still didn’t want anything. I was like let’s just leave elder but he was diligent and asked them one more time if he and his comp could come back... and they said yes. Sometimes I feel like I lack the faith to truly help these people but every time the Lord shows me that the Spirit works miracles. It just takes a little faith and diligence.

Dulce got baptized!!!! She is so wonderful!! she didn’t even know who Christ was when we first met her and know she is so excited to follow Him more fully in her life!! She is such an example to me. Her dad is a less active member and not very supportive but she is so strong her decision to follow Christ!! I feel so blessed to have been part of it!!!

So Josselyn has been going through a lot lately. But we were able to sing Come Come Ye Saints with her and her family. Wow. So powerful. I just want to testify that it doesn’t matter what trial we are facing. The Lord is aware of us and our circumstances and He wants to help us more than anything. We just have to look for Him. His hand is always extended towards us. I love Him and that’s what I am here. I love His children here in Guatemala. His Chapines. I feel so blessed to work here with Hna. Alavrenga, my best friend, and to help others come to realize what Christ has done and is willing to do for each of them.
I love you all!!!

October 6th, 2014 We don’t have to prepare people to hear this message. That’s the Lords job. We are just in charge of inviting them to listen and living the Gospel

These past weeks with my hija have been oh so strange and full of surprises, laughter, let downs, tears, frustration and patience. I cannot even tell you how many people just rejected us as we passed their house to go to conference. it was hard not to get discouraged and I may or may not have cried a bit in the Saturday afternoon session but I have come to realize that it doesn’t matter how many people reject us. There will always be a miracle past all of the rejections and that is what happened. All of the people we passed for didn’t come but we had others who showed up on their own. I know the Lord has a purpose in all things and He wants me to enjoy the simple things. The miracles we expect usually are not the ones we receive but the Lord knows better and I testify of that!!!

So after conference we had 2 awesome lessons with members and their friends!!!! Our ward right now is going through a lot of changes and it has been rough but this just made me remember how essential it is to work together in this work!!!! Being able to hear them talk one on one and personally with their friends and neighbors helped me realize how each and every one of us have the responsibility to SHARE THIS GOSPEL. We don’t have to prepare people to hear this message. That’s the Lords job. We are just in charge of inviting them to listen and living the Gospel so they can see and feel that is true. Do not be afraid to invite your friends to listen to the missionaries!!! Just do it and I promise you the Lord will bless you and them greatly!!!!

So we went to this area called the Maquina. it is soooooo hot and it is forever away but it was incredible. they have never seen sister missionaries there and I felt like a celebrity. everyone wanted to give us food and invite us in their house. it was amazing. if only it wasn’t so dangerous...... I would totally go there.

In conference, I was just so impressed how they each testified of the divinity of their calling. they have been called of God and speak for Him!!!! Listen to their words and put them in practice. I promise that as we do that, we will have so much more love and hope and faith in our hearts!!!

I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!

September 22nd When we follow the Spirit, we can really see miracles of the Lord in this work.

I GOT MY SECOND BABY! (This means she is training her second Sister Missionary) Note the pic attached of me and my hijas. Her name is Hna. Alvarenga and she is form Honduras, She is really close to Hna.Betancourth, my other comp from Honduras who just went home!!!! She is an incredible missionary. I have been blown away by her. She is already teaching me a ton and I am so excited for her training. I feel like this is how I always thought my mission would be. I love her so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny news,,,, I almost got hit by lightning!! It was terrifying.
So I have been visiting this one less active family my whole time here on my mission and it has been such a struggle. We stopped by their house and only were able to talk to their 13 year old daughter. She is an little rebellious and told us she didn’t want to go to church. Well on Sunday I told my comp we should stop by their house and take them to church. We walked up and every single member of their family was leaving the house in their church clothes except the dad. I was a little bummed and as we were walking into the church, the dad came in on his moto even though he only got an hour of sleep. Talk about miracles. We went there at night and the 13 year old daughter, Graciella was the one who really motivated her mom to go. When we follow the Spirit, we can really see miracles of the Lord in this work.

We were able to find some awesome people in this tiny side street. I just kept walking until the end and my comp was like how did you know to go there. I was like I just didn’t felt like I needed to stop and I know that the Spirit was guiding me. Fernando and his Bisabuela live there and they are of Catholic faith but they were so excited to listen and he is reading the book of Mormon to her!!! And he understands it!!!! I just felt the Spirit so strongly there as we testified of the truthfulness of this message. I love being a missionary!! I love teaching these truths!

Another miracle, Gladis!! She came 20 minutes in a bus by herself just to come to church!!! Wow. What an example. I love teaching her!!!!

Hey all of you awesome women out there!! There is going to be a conference this Saturday at 6 especially for women!!! It is going to be outstanding!!! You are all cordially invited!!!!
I love you all tons!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of your prayers and support.

September 16th, 2014 I love praying!!! It is the best. He really is aware of our needs and desires!

Happy Independence to my fellow Chapines!!!!!!!! I love this country so much!!!
So this week we were able to go to  theme park here in Guatemala called Xetulul!!! It was so stinking fun!! I usually hate roller coasters and things that go upside down but I had a blast!!!! I literally have never laughed or screamed so hard in my life.

Miracle of the week..... Jennifer and Fabiola! So we had taught them before and they had even come to church but they randomly showed up at one of our activities (the movie one!) So we were like hey lets go visit them. They weren’t showing a lot of interest but came to church by themselves!!! calidad. So we decided to just ask them why they do it all. They were just like um we want to be baptized. Um okay!! esta bien. So we helped them get everything together for Saturday but of course there are trials in everything. They had accepted a job for that Saturday and Sunday!!! So they ended up getting baptized Sunday night and will be confirmed net week!!! Well there was another difficulty in the process but it is really hard to explain over email.only one of the sisters we there and we were just waiting for the other. I just kept praying and praying that she would show up and she did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love praying!!! It is the best. He really is aware of our needs and desires!!! I testify of that!!

Oh and Andres, our recent convert, baptized them!! He may have done it wrong like 7 ties but it was incredible to see someone I have taught, baptize someone else!! He said the other day... I only have to wait a year and then I leave for two. I didn’t understand at first but he was talking about a mission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love being a missionary. I trying to enjoy every moment and love these people the best I can!!!

funny fact. My comps name is Yaquira Maria. Mine is Kira Marie. We are twins. Hahaha

Love you all!!!

MTC Comps

September 9th, 2014 I know my Savior is with me in every moment and is constantly trying to help me become a better instrument in His hands

I bought Corte today!!!!!! It was awesome and difficult because it is all so beautiful!! Pic attached.

I went on 3 divisions this week. My comp is the Hermana leader so she has to go out with the Hermana’s weekly!!! I got to go with Hna. Santos, who I love and Hna. Moore. aka mtc comp. and Hna. Holman!!!!!!!!!!! It was so much fun!!!!! I loved getting to know these Hermana’s better and thinking back to the good old mtc. That was forever ago. The time is seriously passing by so fast and the more I think about the more it hurts to think one day I have to go. I am not going to lie some days it is hard to get up and do the same thing over and over again but I love it!!! I love these people. I love their culture. The colors. The food..... Still don’t know how Ii feel about it. jajaja. But I seriously love Guatemala. I know the lord called me here for a reason!!!

Our recent convert Andres went and did visits with us!!! It was awesome. I love hearing his testimony. He is so sincere and it just amazes me the changes the gospel brings into our lives.

So funny story. We were fasting and our investigator is a chef. I always tell him that i want him to make me a dessert so i asked him where my dessert was and he went to go get it. But we were fasting!!! So I was like Andres can you eat it?? He was like fine. It was this pudding thing and the Hermano gave him a spoonful. Andres face was kind of in shock and he was like um what flavor is this?? cafe. aka coffee. Andres looked at us like what do I do!! We cannot drink coffee. We are Mormons. hahaa. It was hilarious. I was dying of laughter.

With Hna. Holman we had an incredible lesson with this beautiful family. We were looking for an old investigator from the area book but instead we found this not so positive Hermano. Then his wife comes out and was like come on in!!!!! She had so many questions and was so excited to listen!!!! It is amazing how the Spirit leads us.

MARIANO.  His wife doesn’t want to get married... so he can’t get baptized but he is coming to church by himself and reads the book of Mormon daily. He is such an example to me of faith and diligence.

Things with my comp are a lot better!!!! I love her ton!! She has helped me to calm down. To stop and smell the roses. So I have made a new motto "life is simple so stop complicating it."
Seriously though. but I have really learned from her to just enjoy the moment!!!!

I directed hymns in sacrament meeting!!! it was awesome.!!!
Oh last moment of pride... a tuc tuc driver told me I speak Spanish better than my comp!!!!!! I was dying but he is literally the only person in the world who thinks that but i was freaking out!!!!!!!!

But I really do know this work I am doing is so important and I am so grateful the Lord has trusted me to take care of His Guatemaltecos. I love them. I know my Savior is with me in every moment and is constantly trying to help me become a better instrument in His hands. I love this Gospel. IT IS WHAT BRINGS TRUE HAPPINESS. En the topical guide in the Spanish scriptures the word joy says to also see obedience. When we are obedient and truly live this gospel we will feel the difference in our lives. I testify of that!!

Love you!!!!!!!!!!!
